Week 50: oh Tannenbaum
I've done this shot before, but life is much better with a tripod this year. Yes, it's out of focus on purpose because it looks cool. Here's another with a 30 second exposure...again tripod a must. I love how it makes the lights look like stars.
and just because he's so darn cute...

Week 49: Wild Rumpus
I know I have severely fallen off the wagon with updating my blog. I assure you that I'm trying to take more photos and hope to share more soon. This morning was one of those delicious cold winter mornings where you just wanna stay in your PJ's and drink your coffee slowly. If you're two of course you want to jump on the bed while Mommy tries to get the sheets in the wash. The sunlight coming in the room was so bright as it reflected off the snow and I wanted to capture the fun Owen was having. Oh to be two...the simple joys.

Week 39: Stormy
I'm sorry to say that I haven't picked up my camera this week. It's been a busy one and we are leaving for vacation on Saturday. I took this shot in July as a storm was coming in at sunset. Photos never seem to quite capture hos cool the colors in the sky look, but I tried a bunch of different exposures. I found if I metered under just a little it brought out the contrast in the sky much more.

Week 38: Flutterby
I didn't take many photos this week besides us doing running races, but at our post-race party I happened to see this pretty monarch butterfly. Lucky for me, it hung around for a little while. Any past attempt at me getting a butterfly would result in it flying away once I got my camera. Loved the backlighting of the sun on this one.
and up close and personal

Week 37: Decay
Last weekend we took a drive over the the Buffalo Central Terminal with our main objective being to attend a train show for the boys. I brought my camera to get a few shots of the boys in all their train glory, but ended up sneaking into this little abandoned part of the terminal (of which there are many) I snapped a few shots, and would have loved to do more but I was pressed for time and wearing tiny sandals and walking on broken glass everywhere. Here's some others...
First try with this kind of photography...not quite up to John Waller (http://www.flickr.com/photos/_zprime/ )speed yet, but it was fun.

Week 36: In my garden
It's getting to be the end of gardening season, which is very sad to me. This is my favorite flower in my own garden- the "Lord Baltimore" hibiscus. It's a big flower, about the size of my hand. It also has this great stem, which is fun to photograph. The other late bloomer is my sunflowers. They grew quite tall this year, and I found a little friend hiding in one.

Week 34: Chunky Monkey
Yes this is our friend Sara again. She's at that golden baby age where she can sit but can't crawl...perfect for photos. She was so much fun during our session and I had to fight Owen off with a stick (or distract with Yo Gabba Gabba) so he'd stay out of the pics. Here's some more!
More cute babies to come...just sat down to edit a newborn session from today

Week 31: Garden Tour Part Deux
Last week I went on another garden walk, this time it was Buffalo's. The photo above was a white flower against a green background and I tried a different black and white perspective on it. The rest of the shots are very colorful.
I took significantly less photos at the city walk because it was so crowded. I didn't want to be the girl taking up the 12 inch wide path sticking her butt into the crowd trying to get perfect focus. The other reason was that many people had their gardens roped off-not too convenient for a macro buff. Here's what I got.
Loved the colors on this one
Stargazers
Pretty orange paper lantern
Pink guy (that's what I'm calling it since I don't know the name)
Note to self...must get better at identifying flowers
Purple guy
Lace cap hydrangea. I did get the name of this since it was so cool
Orange balls seemed to be a theme. I love the little garden table behind it too.
